TRUSTex Project Use Cases
These use cases form the foundation for the project’s demonstrations, evaluations, and recommendations to improve EPR schemes for textiles across the European Union.
Eco-design Use Case
Development and testing of at least 5 eco-designed fibres-fabric-garments, demonstrating compliance with business requirements and ESPR criteria.
Recommendations for ESPR standards for 5 different product types:
- Monomaterial (fibres and coating/print) from premium grade conventional polymers
- Monomaterial (fibres and coating/print) from biobased polymers
- Natural fibres
- Fabric with removable coating/finishing
- Fabrics designed for disassembly
Digital Product Passport (DPP) and Labelling Use Cases
Implementation of a blockchain application with validation testing, demonstrating interoperability with IoT and data analytics.
DPP and labelling solution tested in sorting cases for reusing and disassembly and recycling.
Value chain case studies from brands linked to the project showing regulatory compliance.
Textile Collection System Use Cases
Viability studies in more than 5 separate collection systems, including street containers and take-back retailer business models.
Evaluation of optimized approaches for textile waste collection.
Sorting and Disassembly Technology Use Cases
Integration of AI and optical solutions to increase manual sorting efficiency for reusing by 30%.
Demonstration of novel technologies in sorting for recycling to improve efficiency and accuracy by at least 20%.
Pilot integration of disassembly technology with DPP-enabled identification showing >95% accuracy and disassembly.
Second-hand Market Viability Use Case
Conducting at least 5 workshops with actors in the second-hand value chain, including operations in third countries.
